There's a community of about 350 people that all live under the bridge leading to the railway station. It is a group made up of people from all over this nation who had come to this city in search of a better life. In this area you will see locals from this state and city, families from North Indian states, Tribals, Lepers children and oh SO MANY BABIES!
It was with these people that we spent our evening with yesterday. The last time Raj came here it was to distribute shoes. To say that it turned out chaotic then would be an understatement. In fact it became dangerous after fights broke out among the women over their place in line. This time we were more prepared and had a system.
When we drove in to the slum our van quickly became swarmed by people. Some were rushing in asking for prayer, some were peeking into our van to see what we brought them, and some were just curious of 'the American women'.
We started this monthly feeding program about four months ago. These children are beautiful and there smiles are radiant. Underneath their unkempt appearance they are just like my own children. Looking into the eyes of some of those babies I could see my own son. These people are the forgotten ones. Most people do not go out to this area beacause of how dirty and disease plauged this area is. But God loves these people, they are so special to Him..He remembers them... and we should too.
These children are now singing songs to Jesus, learning about his love, and at the same time recieving physical food and care.
